Despite the questionable weather forecast we had 16 pilots show up for our IMAC contest June 17/18. The road warriors of the weekend were Juan Sr and Juan Jr who travelled all the way from Montreal to fly with us for the weekend. Mother nature had something else in mind however, after two rounds we were hit with flash thunder storms and Tornado warnings so decided to retire to the upper Thames Brewery to wait out dinner reservations.
Sunday morning dawned breezy but dry for the moment and we started into unknowns right away to try and make up some ground. Unfortunately everything came to a screeching halt after a midair involving two beautiful Carden Pro’s. By the time we had recovered what we could from the lake winds were gusting to a forecast 40km/r and the contest was called.
First place in basic, flying in his very first contest, went to Juan Jose Velasquez.
There were 5 pilots in Sportsman. The winning order was Daniel Reichert, Ariel Jack, Steve Ruxton, Adam Picard and Dave Mott.
There were 4 pilots in intermediate. The winning order was Paul McMillan, Domenic Teti, Michael Lalonde and Glen Lundrigan.
There were two pilots in Advanced. The winning order was Rick Kroeze followed by Dave Rees.
There were 4 pilots in Unlimited. The winning order was Don McLellan, Bryan Mailloux, Juan Velasquez and Guillaume Saucier.
